Nick Bassett

Chair/Secretary

Nick has a background in people, operations and project management in the Information Technology and Telecommunications sectors.

With over 20 years of involvement at Board level of various community organisations, he brings a broad range of experience and knowledge in strategy, operations, regulatory, technology, risk management and human resources to the Board.

Nick also lends his support to Creative Clunes and Booktown Festival drawing on his extensive work in live theatre, audio/video tech and event logistics.

Nick joined the Board in 2023.

Jacqui Horwood

Deputy Chair

Jacqui has recently moved to Clunes after nearly 14 years in the inner west of Melbourne. She has been a co-convenor with Sisters in Crime Australia and is currently a committee member of the Australian Crime Writers Association.

She has two decades experience of project management and stakeholder engagement in the public sector and currently works at State Library Victoria.

Jacqui joined the Board in 2022.

Warren Wiggins

Treasurer

Originally from New Zealand, Warren has been involved in Music and the Arts for a long time, playing in orchestras, in shows concerts.

He has been a Board Member for the Nelson School of Music for 6 years, the Auckland Youth Orchestra and ran and conducted the Nelson School of Music Orchestra…always looking for funding!

He has been playing viola for over 50 years in New Zealand and Australia and around the world wherever he was working as an Architect (he still dabbles in that) and has just recently retired from the Melbourne Opera Orchestra after 22 years involvement.

Warren has organised many concerts at Mulberry Manse over the last 6 years to bring high quality music and dance performances to Clunes.

Warren joined the Board in 2023.

Dayle Betts

Board Member

Dayle retired to Clunes after 42 years as a Professional Engineer in the aviation and defence support industry in Australia.
 
Since retiring, Dayle has been a volunteer with Clunes Neighbourhood House, Clunes Landcare and Creative Clunes. He has had significant involvement in the logistics side of Booktown events since 2022.
 
Dayle joined the Board in 2024.

Linda Newitt

Board Member

Linda has a background in media, issues management, strategic communications and community engagement within the public sector.

Linda has been actively involved as a volunteer with community organisations and events in Clunes since making a permanent move to the town in 2007. Her volunteer work was acknowledged in 2019 when she was named Female Citizen of the Year.

Linda is a Life Member of Creative Clunes, having been part of the original team that founded and ran the Booktown Festival from 2007-2014.

Now semi-retired, with a new part-time career creating crosswords, Linda returned to the Creative Clunes Board in 2024.

Shelley Hinton

Board Member

Shelley has over 40-years’ experience in the visual arts and art education 

Shelley has been involved in curriculum development and managing and delivering a diverse range of programs, events exhibitions and resources for major cultural institutions, including the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (MPRG), the lNational Gallery of Victoria(NGV); Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (ACCA), Australian Museums and Galleries Association (AMaGA), Melbourne, the Ian Potter, the University of Melbourne, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) and the Art Gallery of Ballarat.

 

Shelley was the Artistic Director of the national, acquisitive Clunes Ceramic Award in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

 

She is currently Curator, Cultural Collections, Federation University, managing the Post Office Gallery’s temporary exhibition program and associated events while overseeing select Permanent Collection projects.

Shelley joined the Board in 2023.
