Clunes Railway Station was opened in 1874, and was closed in 1993 when passenger services discontinued on the Mildura Line.
From 1993, the station sat empty, with the station building and platform still in place. The platform was reopened, along with the restoration of passenger services to Maryborough in November 2011.
During 2015, the entire building was beautifully restored inside and out by VicTrack, under a Victorian Government community funding project designed to give life to unused railway station buildings, where evidence shows there is a strong demand for their use by the community.
